Who doesn’t love options?! The Rowan Tee, which is the latest sewing pattern from Titchy Threads has a lot…A LOT! 144 combinations to be exact! You can make it long sleeve, short sleeve, with cuffs or hems, add a hoodie, pocket or some stripe accents.
I went pretty basic with this one. The warm weather is coming, so a short sleeve tee was a must. I used an old tshirt of hubby’s and some scraps for the contrast stripes. I love re-using mens tops. You get a lot of fabric to work with and the images always end up larger than life! Sticking with the red and blue theme from the glasses, I added one red and one blue contrast shoulder stripe and used red and blue thread for the double needle stitching on the bottom hem. I re-used the hems from the original sleeves to save a little time.
Most of the tees I made for Roman were using Rae’s Flashback Skinny Tee pattern, but they don’t fit Ted as well as they did Roman. Ted is more of a regular fit tee kinda toddler, and the Rowan Tee is just right! I cut out the size 2 for Ted without really thinking about it, then after measuring him up, realised I should’ve cut the 18-24mo. I cut the width and length of the tee down, but the armholes and neck are still from the size 2. Next time I will cut the straight 18-24mo and it will be perfect.
Ted’s been walking for about a month and is already running around any chance he can. I think I’ll have to wait about 2 years until I can take an un-blurry photo of him.
As always, Laura’s patterns have clear easy to read instructions and great photos. They also come with a print shop file which I looooove! No trimming and sticking heaps of pages together. I am a big fan of her patterns and have sewn up her Small Fry Skinny Jeans several times. Want to try out the Rowan Tee or some of Laura’s other patterns? Make sure you stop over to see all the Rowan Tees on the tour…everyone has used a different combination to really show off how versatile the pattern is.
